The 3000-meter steeplechase of the men at the 2010 European Athletics Championships was born on 30 July and 1 August 2010 at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys the city of Barcelona held.
In this competition the French obstacle course won a double victory. European champion was the 2008 Olympic runner-up, Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad . Silver was won by the third place in the World Championships in 2009 , the third place in the European Championship in 2006 and the holder of European record Bouabdellah Tahri . The Moldovan Ivan Lukyanov came third.

Record improvement
European champion Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad improved the existing EM record in the final on August 1st by 4.89 seconds to 8: 07.87 minutes.
doping
Two doping cases occurred in this competition.
- The Spaniard José Luis Blanco , initially third, tested positive for EPO at the Spanish Championships in July 2010 . His EM result was annulled and he was banned until October 26, 2012.
- The Russian Ildar Minschin , initially sixth, was subsequently proven to have taken banned substances in August 2009. He was banned for two years and his EM result was revoked.
The main victims were three athletes:
- The Moldovan Ivan Lukyanov could not take part in the award ceremony and received his bronze medal late.
- The Swede Mustafa Mohamed would have qualified for the final with his time, in which he could not take part due to the subsequent disqualification of the doping offenders.
- For the same reason, Hubert Pokrop from Poland was refused entry into the finals.
Preliminary round
The preliminary round was held in two runs. The first four athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the final.
