The men's 100-meter run at the 2010 European Athletics Championships was held on July 27 and 28, 2010 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in the city of Barcelona .

The French sprinters won two medals in this competition: gold and bronze. Christophe Lemaître became European champion . He won ahead of the British Mark Lewis-Francis . Bronze went to Martial Mbandjock .

In the 100-meter run , the Irishman Jason Smyth, a disabled athlete, took part in the European Athletics Championships for the first time. Smyth has Stargardt's disease and is almost blind. With a time of 10.43 s he reached the semifinals, where he was eliminated in fourth place with 10.46 s.

Almost all races were accompanied by a clear headwind. So there was no chance of attacking the existing EM record. The previous record thus continued to exist.

The preliminary round was carried out in five runs. The first four athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semifinals.

Christophe Lemaitre, who in 2010 became the first white sprinter to run the 100-meter run under ten seconds, won the race ahead of the British Mark Lewis-Francis. In third place, Martial Mbandjock won a second medal for France in this race. Defending champion Francis Obikwelu from Portugal came in fourth in the photo finish with the simultaneous Lewis-Francis and Mbandjock.
