Heinz Weis (born July 14, 1963 in Leiwen near Trier , actually Heinrich Weis) is a former German athlete and Olympic participant who was one of the world's best hammer throwers in the 1980s and 1990s . His greatest success was the 1997 world championship.

Career

Heinz Weis initially belonged to the TV 1863 Germania Trier (trainer: Ernst Klement †), from 1984 to the LG Bayer Leverkusen (trainer: Rudolf Hars †, Bernhard Riedel ). He took part in four Olympic Games for the Federal Republic of Germany and Germany.

In his playing days he was 1.93 m tall and weighed 125 kg. He is married and has a daughter.
