The men's 5000-meter run at the European Athletics Championships in 1994 was held on August 12 and 14, 1994 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .

The German Olympic runner-up in 1988 and Olympic champion in 1992, Dieter Baumann, was European champion . He won ahead of the Briton Robert Denmark . Bronze went to Abel Antón , the Spanish winner of the 10,000-meter run last week.

Preliminary round

The preliminary round was held in two runs. The first five athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the five fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semi-finals. All athletes who qualified for the final over their time came from the second faster run-in.
