Kandhla is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh . The city is part of the National Capital Region .

The city is part of the Shamli district . Kandhla has the status of Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 25 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census, it had a total of 46,796 inhabitants, of which 24,535 were men and 22,261 women. Muslims form the largest group of the city's population with a share of over 69%, followed by Hindus with over 27%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 55.43%, well below the national average.
