doping

In this competition, an athlete had to be disqualified for doping abuse. The Bulgarian Sofia Boschanova , who was initially fourth , tested positive for the amphetamine mesocarb . The three jumpers in the ranks of five or more then moved up one rank in the list of results.

Boschanowa's doping fraud had an impact on two participants in particular:

  • The Italian Barbara Lah , who was eliminated in the qualification, could have been in the final.
  • The German Helga Radtke , who initially placed ninth, would have allowed three more attempts in the final.

Wind conditions

In the following summary of results, the wind conditions for the best jumps are named. The permitted limit is two meters per second. With stronger wind support, the distance will be counted for the competition, but will not be included in the lists of records and the best.
