Jules Noël (athlete)

Jules Noël ( Jules François Joseph Noël; born January 27, 1903 in Norrent-Fontes , † May 19, 1940 in Escaudœuvres ) was a French discus thrower and shot putter .

At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928, he was eliminated in the qualifying discus throw . Four years later he was fourth in discus throw and tenth in shot put at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles .

In 1934 he was seventh in the discus throw and tenth in the shot put at the European Athletics Championships in Turin . At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin he came in twelfth place in the discus throw and was eliminated in the first round in the shot put .

In 1938 he was seventh in the discus throw and ninth in the shot put at the European Championships in Paris .

Eight times he was French champion in the discus throw (1928–1930, 1932, 1934, 1936, 1938, 1939) and six times in the shot put (1929, 1930, 1936–1939). In 1930 he became English champion in both disciplines.

During the Second World War he was fatally wounded while doing military service .
