The women's discus throw at the 1982 European Athletics Championships was held on September 8, 1982 in the Olympic Stadium in Athens .

In this competition, the Bulgarian discus throwers won a double victory. Zwetanka Christowa became European champion . Silver went to the Olympic runner-up in 1980 and world record holder Marija Petkowa . The Soviet athlete Galina Savinkova won the bronze medal.
