The men's 1500 meter race at the 1982 European Athletics Championships was held on September 9 and 11, 1982 in the Olympic Stadium in Athens .

European champion was the Briton Steve Cram . Second place went to the Soviet runner Mikalaj Kirau . The Spaniard José Manuel Abascal won the bronze medal.
