The men's 1500-meter race at the 1974 European Athletics Championships was held on September 6th and 8th, 1974 in the Olympic Stadium in Rome .
European champion was Klaus-Peter Justus from the GDR. Second place went to Tom Birger Hansen from Denmark. Bronze went to the German runner Thomas Wessinghage .
