The men's 10,000-meter run at the 1974 European Athletics Championships was held on September 2, 1974 in the Olympic Stadium in Rome .

The European champion was GDR runner Manfred Kuschmann , who won the silver medal over 5000 meters six days later . British Tony Simmons took second place . Bronze went to the Italian Giuseppe Cindolo.
