Marc Smet

Marcus Smet (born February 5, 1951 in Mortsel ) is a former Belgian athlete who was Olympic 7th in the 10,000 meter run in 1976 .

Marc Smet belonged to the Belgian team in 1973 and 1974, which took first place in the team classification at the World Cross Country Championships , and in 1975 he won the bronze medal with the team. At the 1976 Olympic Games , he finished seventh in 28: 02.80 minutes, eight seconds behind bronze. Four years later he ran at the 1980 Olympic Games in 2:16:00 h to 13th place in the marathon .

Marc Smet won four Belgian championship titles: in 1975 and 1976 he won the 10,000 meters, in 1978 and 1979 in the marathon. With a height of 1.82 m, his competition weight was 63 kg.
