The men's 10,000-meter run at the 1986 European Athletics Championships was held on August 26, 1986 in the Neckar Stadium in Stuttgart .

In this competition, the Italian runners celebrated a triple victory. European champion surprisingly became Stefano Mei , who won silver five days later over 5000 meters . Second place went to the favored defending champion, 1983 world champion and 1984 Olympic champion, Alberto Cova . Bronze went to Salvatore Antibo .
