The women's 4 x 100 meter relay at the European Athletics Championships in 1986 was held on August 30 and 31, 1986 in the Neckar Stadium in Stuttgart .

The GDR became European champions with the cast of Silke Gladisch , Sabine Günther , Ingrid Auerswald and Marlies Göhr . Second place went to Bulgaria ( Ginka Sagortschewa , Anelija Nunewa , Nadezhda Georgieva , Jordanka Donkowa ). Bronze went to the Soviet Union with Antonina Nastoburko , Natalja Botschina , Marina Schirowa ( final ) and Olga Solotarjowa as well as Iryna Slyussar , who was also used in the preliminary run .

The runner, who was only used in the preliminary run for the USSR, also received a bronze medal.

The European championship relay from the GDR improved the existing EM record in the line-up of Silke Gladisch , Sabine Günther , Ingrid Auerswald and Marlies Göhr twice:

  • 41.84 s - final on August 31
