Wendy Hoyte

Wendy Hoyte ( Wendy Patricia Hoyte, née Clarke; born December 17, 1957 in London ) is a former British sprinter .

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, she came eighth with the British team in the 4 x 100 meter relay . In 1978 she was starting for England at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton eighth over 100 m . At the European Athletics Indoor Championships she was fourth over 60 m in Vienna in 1979 and sixth over 50 m in Grenoble in 1981 .

In 1982 she won bronze over 60 m at the European Indoor Championships in Milan . At the European Athletics Championships in Athens , she was eighth in the 100 m and won silver with the British 4 x 100 meter relay, at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane she was fifth in the individual competition and won the English relay.

In 1986 she finished fifth at the European Championships in Stuttgart with the British 4 x 100 meter relay. The following year, she was fifth over 60 m at the 1987 European Indoor Championships in Liévin.

She has been married to former sprinter Les Hoyte since 1981. Her two sons Justin and Gavin Hoyte are successful as football players, her nephew Christopher Clarke as a sprinter.
