Justin Raymond Hoyte (born November 20, 1984 in Leytonstone , Greater London ) is an English football player who is under contract with Millwall FC . He is primarily a right defender , but played primarily on the left at Arsenal . He can also act in central defense .

career

Hoyte had been with Arsenal since he was nine and turned pro in May 2003. He made his Premier League debut at home against Southampton FC on May 7, 2003. Arsenal won 6-1 at the time. In the 2005/06 season he was loaned to Sunderland , for which he completed 27 Premier League games and (against Newcastle United in April 2006) scored a goal.

He scored his first goal for Arsenal on January 2, 2007 in the home game against Charlton Athletic - the first goal by an Englishman for the Gunners in their new Emirates Stadium . On August 14, 2008, Hoyte's move was announced for a transfer fee of three million pounds to Middlesbrough FC, where he should primarily fill the gap created by the departure of Luke Young , who had migrated to Aston Villa .

Hoyte completed a total of 18 games for the English U-21 team between 2004 and 2007 and scored his only goal in November 2006 against the Dutch youth team.
