The men's pole vault at the 1974 European Athletics Championships was held on September 6, 1974 in the Olympic Stadium in Rome .
With gold and bronze there were two medals for the USSR in the pole vault. Wladimir Kischkun became European champion . He won ahead of Poland's Władysław Kozakiewicz . Bronze went to Yuri Isakov.

European Champion Wladimir Kischkun and Vice European Champion Władysław Kozakiewicz equalized the existing EM record of 5.35 m in the final on September 6th.
qualification
Since there were only fifteen participants, the qualification scheduled for September 3rd at 3 p.m. was canceled, and all pole vaulters competed together for the final on September 6th.
