Ilie Floroiu

Ilie Floroiu (born November 29, 1952 in Iulia , Tulcea County ) is a former Romanian long-distance runner .

At the European Athletics Championships in Rome in 1974, he came in fifth over 5000 m and 14th over 10,000 m . In 1975 he won silver over 5000 m and 10,000 m at the Universiade .

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he was fifth over 10,000 m and eliminated over 5000 m in the run.

A bronze medal over 10,000 m at the Universiade 1977 was followed by a fifth place over 5000 m and a seventh place over 10,000 m at the 1978 European Championship in Prague .

In 1979 he achieved a double victory over 5000 m and 10,000 m at the Universiade. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, he was tenth over 10,000 m .

Eight times he was Romanian champion over 10,000 m (1973-1980), six times over 5000 m (1974-1976, 1978-1980) as well as in cross-country running ( 1974-1978, 1980) and once in the marathon (1976).
