Gerd Larsen

Gerd Larsen (born September 8, 1942 in Aabenraa ) is a former Danish middle-distance runner .

Sporting successes

During his active time from 1962 to the late 1970s, he took part in numerous international championships. His best placement was fourth place over 800 meters at the European Indoor Games in 1968. At the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968 , he was eliminated over 800 meters in the preliminary run. In 1972 he set a new Danish record over 1500 meters in 3: 39.4 minutes and reached the semi-finals of the Olympic Games in Munich . Gerd Larsen is three-time Danish champion over the 800-meter course, two-time Danish champion over the 1500 meters and three-time winner of the national cross-country championship.

Gerd Larsen is characterized by his unconventional and experimental training methods. He was one of the first to bring Arthur Lydiard's training principles to Denmark. He began rowing in the early 1990s, where he won the World Master Championships in 1996. Today he lived in Aabenraa and is an active rower and cross-country skier.

With a height of 1.89 m, his competition weight was 75 kg.
