The men's 10,000-meter run at the 1982 European Athletics Championships was held on September 6, 1982 in the Olympic Stadium in Athens .

The European champion was the Italian Alberto Cova . He won ahead of GDR runner Werner Schildhauer , who five days later also came second over 5000 meters . Bronze went to the Finnish defending champion Martti Vainio .
