The Olympic fifth from 1980 Ulrike Bruns reached fifth place - later she won bronze at the European Championships in 1986 over 10,000 meters and at the World Championships in 1987 over 3000 meters
After she was eliminated over 800 meters in the semifinals, Elly van Hulst finished eighth
After finishing sixth over 800 meters, Doina Melinte reached ninth place - at the 1984 Olympic Games she won gold over 800 and silver over 1500 meters
