She received Turkish citizenship on June 30, 2008 and has since started internationally for Turkey. She took part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , but failed there in the qualification. She also missed the finals at the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Turin . Both times she stayed well below her potential.

She finally achieved her international breakthrough at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin . At the Indoor World Championships 2010 in Doha , Mey Melis could not qualify for the final. In 2011 she finished eighth at the World Championships in Daegu .

After her two-year doping ban, she finished seventh at the 2015 European Indoor Championships in Prague and won the gold medal for Turkey at the European Team Championships in the second highest league. In 2016, she finished fifth at the European Championships in Amsterdam with 6.62 m. This was followed by the end in qualifying at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .

doping

At the European Championships in 2012 , Mey Melis originally jumped to fifth place. She was later disqualified due to a positive doping test. Because the IAAF found out about it too late, it was still able to start at the Olympic Games in London and reached the final. But then she was no longer allowed to compete there. She was banned for two years until August 7, 2014.
