The men's long jump at the 2012 European Athletics Championships was held on June 29 and July 1, 2012 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .
German Sebastian Bayer became European champion . He won ahead of the Spaniard Luis Felipe Méliz . Bronze went to the Swede Michel Tornéus .

June 29, 2012, 1:50 p.m.
37 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 8.05 m. Four athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the eight athletes placed next to twelve jumpers (highlighted in light green). In the end, 7.89 m had to be achieved for participation in the finals.
