Nils Winter (born March 27, 1977 in Buxtehude ) is a former German long jumper .

In 2003 Nils Winter won the German championship in long jump. The following year he took part in the Olympic Games in Athens . In 2005 he became German long jump champion indoors and outdoors and also won the European Cup in Florence . In 2007 he was German indoor champion for the second time.

At the European Indoor Championships in March 2009 in Turin, he set a new personal indoor best and finished second behind the European record jumping Sebastian Bayer with 8.22 m . At the World Championships , which were held in Berlin that same year , he was eliminated in qualification.

In 2012, Winter jumped eight meters for the first time in almost three years and qualified for the European Championships in Helsinki . Winter ended his career in September 2012.

Nils Winter began his sporting career in 1987 at BSV Buxtehude . From 1998 to 2002 he was active for MobilCom decathlon wave. In 2002 he then joined TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen . After the 2007 summer season, his trainer Bernd Knut ended his professional career. Nils Winter then joined the newly founded team ReferenceNetzwerk Leverkusen together with the triple jumper Charles Friedek . Both now trained under sports scientist Sebastian Hess . After the dissolution of the Team Reference Network Association, Winter 2010 switched back to BSV Buxtehude.
