The women's 10,000-meter run at the 2012 European Athletics Championships was held on July 1, 2012 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .
This longest track distance suffered a lot from the Olympic Games that will take place in a few weeks . Many runners decided not to participate in order to concentrate on the Olympic race. As a result, the field of participants with only sixteen athletes from nine countries was fairly manageable.
The Portuguese Dulce Félix became the European champion . She won ahead of the British Joanne Pavey . Bronze went to Olha Skrypak from Ukraine.
