Sabrina "Mocki" Mockenhaupt-Gregor (born Mockenhaupt ; born December 6, 1980 in Siegen ) is a German long-distance runner and multiple national champion.

Life

Since September 1, 2001, Sabrina Mockenhaupt has been a sports soldier in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr and has the rank of sergeant major . In the election for Sportsman of the Year in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district, which has been carried out annually by the Westfälische Rundschau since 1985 , Mockenhaupt has achieved first place a total of twelve times since 1998. In addition to her sporting achievements, Mockenhaupt became known through various video recordings on TV total and her visit to the studio in 2005. In 2019, Mockenhaupt took part in the twelfth season of the RTL dance live show Let's Dance and took eighth place there. Also in 2019 Mockenhaupt was in an episode of the RTL daily soap Unter uns .

In August 2019 she married and took the name Mockenhaupt-Gregor. In May 2020 she became the mother of a daughter. Her twin brother Markus is also active as a long-distance runner.

Athletic career

Coming from a family of long-distance runners (the marathon best times of their parents Fred and Hildegard Mockenhaupt are 2:24:59 h and 2:40:41 h), Mockenhaupt was five times German youth and junior champion.

In 2001 Mockenhaupt won her first of thirteen German championship titles over this distance over 5000 meters (more followed in 2002–2005 and 2007–2014). She has been German champion ten times over 10,000 meters (2003–2005, 2007, 2009–2012 and 2016–2017), and nine times in cross country (2003–2005, 2007–2011 and 2014).

In 2003 Mockenhaupt started in the 10,000 meter run of the World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis , but had to drop out at the beginning of the second half due to illness.

2004 Summer Olympics

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , Mockenhaupt took 15th place over 10,000 meters. The following year she finished 17th at the World Championships in Helsinki over the same distance.

Mockenhaupt achieved his first international medal success in December 2005 with second place at the European Cross Country Championships . In fact, however, her first international medal comes from the 2005 European Indoor Championships in Madrid . There she initially only finished fourth over 3000 meters . However, the second-placed Turkish Tezeta Desalegn-Dengersa was later disqualified for doping , and Mockenhaupt was subsequently awarded the bronze medal in 2006.

At the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg , Mockenhaupt achieved eighth place over 10,000 meters and sixth place over 5000 meters. In the same year she started in the half marathon competition of the Cologne Marathon and ran 1:10:35 h straight away, beaten only by her compatriot Irina Mikitenko .

At the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2007 , Mockenhaupt fought for a medal in the 3000 meter run, but had to be content with fourth place, despite her personal best indoor time of 8: 45.77 minutes. A few weeks later, at the Bonn Marathon , she set a course record of 1:11:57 h on the half marathon distance.

Marathon since 2007

In her debut over the 42.195 km in October 2007, Mockenhaupt won the Cologne Marathon and, with her time of 2:29:33 h, met the DLV qualification standard for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing . In the following season, however, she concentrated again on the shorter distances, finishing second in the Paderborn Easter run over 10 kilometers in 32:07 minutes and completing the 10,000-meter Olympic standard with a time of 31: 27.05 minutes, run on 4. May 2008 in Palo Alto . In Beijing she finished 13th with her personal record of 31: 14.21 minutes.

On October 26, 2008, Mockenhaupt also won her second marathon in Frankfurt am Main in a new personal best of 2:26:22 h, thus fulfilling the qualification standards required by the DLV for the 2009 World Championships in Berlin . However, she stated that she did not want to start there in the marathon, but in the 10,000-meter run.

Mockenhaupt fulfilled the required standard at the beginning of May 2009 when she won her fifth German championship title in the 10,000 meter run in a time of 31: 27.56 minutes. Four weeks earlier, she won the Berlin half marathon in a new personal best of 1:08:45 h. She also set a new best time of 14: 59.88 minutes in the 5000 meter run, making it the fourth German woman to stay under 15 minutes. Contrary to previous statements, she announced that she would start at the World Athletics Championships in both the 10,000 meter run and the marathon. Two weeks before the start of the World Championships, however, she changed her mind again and announced that she would now forego a start over 10,000 meters. In the marathon she finally finished 17th in 2:30:07 h. A few weeks later she won the Cologne Marathon for the second time after 2007 in 2:30:12 h.

Mockenhaupt at the Müritz run 2010

At the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona , Mockenhaupt ran the 10,000 meters in 32: 06.02 minutes on July 28, 2010 and thus finished sixth. Subsequently, the Russian Inga Eduardowna Abitowa (2nd place) and the Turkish Meryem Erdoğan (5th place) were disqualified for violating the doping regulations, so that Mockenhaupt moved up to fourth place.
At the Berlin Marathon of the same year, despite continuous rain, she improved her personal best by one second to 2:26:21 h and came in fourth.

2012 Summer Olympics

On October 30, 2011, Mockenhaupt qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London at the Frankfurt Marathon with a time of 2:28:08 h .

At the European Championships in Helsinki in 2012 , Mockenhaupt finished fifth over 10,000 meters and thus achieved her best international placement over this distance. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, she finished 17th in the 10,000-meter run.

At the Boston Marathon in April 2013, Mockenhaupt finished tenth with 2:30:09 hours. From June 2013 to spring 2014 it was trained by Dietmar "Pit" Bittermann from Cottbus , who also trained Stephan Freilang for a long time , who was third in the marathon at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. Then she joined the SG Wenden under coach Egon Bröcher.
