Brief report:

On the last lap, the two Turkish women from Ethiopia , Alemitu Bekele and Elvan Abeylegesse, defeated the two Portuguese women Sara Moreira and Jéssica Augusto . After Bekele was suspended for doping in 2013 and subsequently disqualified, Abeylegesse had not only won the 10,000-meter run but also the 5000-meter run for herself. In addition, the Portuguese Sara Moreira advanced to the silver rank. 13 of the 18 athletes who started crossed the finish line. The Ethiopian- born Turkish Elvan Abeylegesse took the lead on the fourth kilometer and never gave it up until the end. Jéssica Augusto was in second place for a long time, but was overtaken by the Russian defending champion Inga Abitowa in the closing stages . However, since Abitowa was doped, Augusto received the silver medal afterwards. With Hilda Kibet and Meryem Erdoğan , who started for Turkey, two other runners born in East Africa followed in sixth place ahead of the German Sabrina Mockenhaupt . Brief report:

Of the 43 athletes who started, 36 finished the race. After around 28 kilometers, Lithuanian Živilė Balčiūnaitė stood out from the competition and finished in 2:31:14 h. In the fight for second place, the Russian Nailja Julamanowa prevailed in 2:32:15 h against Anna Incerti , who was later awarded the title after her two competitors were convicted of doping and disqualified. The Swiss Maja Neuenschwander moved up from 27th to 25th place; her compatriot Patricia Morceli gave up the race after 30 kilometers. There were no German runners at the start, and defending champion Ulrike Maisch also did without. Austria and Liechtenstein were also not represented.

After the Turkish Nevin Yanıt had already set a new national record in the semi-finals, she improved it again in the final and won the race ahead of the Irish Derval O'Rourke and the fastest of the European annual best list, the German Carolin Nytra . Like four years earlier in Gothenburg, the season from Russia was first with a world annual best of 3: 21.26 min. The German relay team around Janin Lindenberg , Esther Cremer , Fabienne Kohlmann and Claudia Hoffmann (in the run-up to Jill Richards ) ran a time of 3: 24.07 minutes and was second ahead of the British in third place. Because doping of the Russian squadron was denied the gold medal, the Belarussian season has been banned for doping later.

Blanka Vlašić was first and set both the European championship record of Tia Hellebaut from 2006 and the European season best. Although world record holder and defending champion Jelena Isinbayeva did not take part in the European Championships, the medal went to Russia thanks to Svetlana Feofanova . Ineta Radēviča surprisingly won the European championship title. Betty Heidler from Germany , who went into the competition as one of the favorites, won her second gold medal with 76.38 m in the fifth litter after her 2007 World Championship victory. Even her second best attempt (75.92 m) would have been enough to win. Former world record holder Tatjana Lysenko from Russia , who had previously been banned for doping for two years and was reigning European champion, won the silver medal with 75.65 m and was replaced by Betty Heidler as European champion. The reigning world champion and world record holder (78.30 m in June 2010) Anita Włodarczyk from Poland came third with 73.34 m. Linda Stahl and Christina Obergföll achieved a German double victory . Linda Stahl won the gold medal with a personal best of 66.81 m in her fifth attempt. Christina Obergföll, who was rated higher in the run-up, won the silver medal with 65.58 m. The world record holder (72.28 m in 2008) Barbora Špotáková from the Czech Republic came third with 65.36 m. Brief report: The reigning world champion, the British Jessica Ennis , who was clearly favored from the start , won with a sovereign European championship record and a personal best of 6823 points. The world championship runner-up from Germany , Jennifer Oeser , won the bronze medal with her personal best of 6683 points. The 2008 Olympic champion, Natalja Dobrynska , also finished second with a personal best. Of the individual disciplines, Ennis won the 110-meter hurdles, the high jump and the 200-meter run.
