Lyudmila Sergejewna Kolchanova ( Russian Людмила Сергеевна Колчанова , English transcription Lyudmila Kolchanova ; born October 1, 1979 in Sharia , Kostroma Oblast ) is a Russian athlete who became European champion in the long jump in 2006 .

Life

At the European Indoor Championships in Madrid in 2005, she was fifth with 6.56 m, three centimeters behind bronze. In Izmir at the Universiade 2005 she won the title with 6.79 m in front of the Portuguese Naide Gomes .

At the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 , she jumped 6.93 m and won again before Naide Gomes. She also won the long jump at the World Cup in Athens and with 6.78 m was again ahead of the Portuguese who competed here for the European team. In the final accounts of the World Cup, the Russians also won ahead of the European team.

In 2007 she improved her personal best from 7.11 m to 7.21 m. In Osaka at the 2007 World Championships , she was second behind her compatriot Tatiana Lebedewa with 6.92 m .
