Sophie Duarte
Sophie Duarte (born July 31, 1981 in Rodez ) is a French obstacle , long-distance and cross-country runner .
At the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka, she was fifth over 3000 m obstacle. In 2008, she retired from the Beijing Olympic Games in this discipline. At the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels she came in 15th place and won bronze with the team.
A 15th place over 3000 m obstacle at the 2009 World Cup in Berlin was followed by a seventh place at the 2010 European Athletics Championships in Barcelona.
At the European Cross Country Championships 2011 in Velenje and 2012 in Szentendre she was sixth each; in Szentendre she also won silver with the team.
In 2013 she came in 16th at the World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz and was eliminated in the preliminary round at the World Championships in Moscow over 5000 m . Her greatest success so far came in December when she won the title at the European Cross Country Championship in Belgrade and again won silver with the team.
So far she has been French champion over 3000 m obstacle four times (2007, 2008, 2010, 2011) and once over 5000 m (2013).
