Nuria Fernández

Nuria Fernández ( Nuria Fernández Domínguez ; born August 16, 1976 in Lucerne , Switzerland ) is a Spanish medium and long-distance runner .

She was Spanish champion over 800 meters in 1996 and 1999 outdoors and in 1998 and 2000 indoors. At the European Championships in Budapest in 1998 , she was eliminated over this distance in the preliminary run.

In 2001 and 2006 she became national indoor champion over 1500 meters and in 2006 outdoors. Over the same distance she failed at the 1999 World Championships in Seville , reached the semifinals at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and finished 12th at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton . In 2002 she was eighth at the European Championships in Munich , and at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , she reached the semifinals. A preliminary round at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki and the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg was followed by fourth place each at the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Turin over 3000 meters and at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin over 1500 meters.

In 2010 she finished second at the Cursa Bombers , won the Ibero-American Championships over 1500 meters and then celebrated her greatest success so far in front of a home crowd by winning the gold medal at the European Championships in Barcelona .

Nuria Fernández is 1.70 m tall and weighs 57 kg. She is trained by Manuel Pascua.
