Sabine Fischer (born June 29, 1973 in Menznau ) is a Swiss medium and long-distance runner .

Career

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , she was ninth in the 1,500-meter run , and at the 2001 Universiade , she won the bronze medal over the same distance. With her best time of 4: 05.14 minutes she occupies fourth place in the all-time Swiss best list.

After that, she concentrated more on running the streets . In 2005 she was Swiss champion in the half marathon in 1:16:06 h at the Lausanne Marathon in October. In the years 2005 to 2009 she took second place in the running series of the Post-Cup . In 2007 she won the half marathon route of the Lausanne Marathon in 1:13:06 h, making her the fourth fastest Swiss woman ever over this distance. In 2007 and 2008, Fischer won the Zurich New Year's Eve run . In 2009 she started with a victory at the Kerzerslauf , but then had to undergo a hamstring operation and was only able to participate in races again at the end of the season.

In 2010, she finished ninth in the 5000 meter run at the European Athletics Championships with a new personal best of 15: 19.80 minutes. At the end of the year, Fischer won the Post-Cup for the first time.

In 2011 she became Swiss champion over 10 km on the road in Lyss . Fischer qualified in the 5,000-meter run for the 2011 World Athletics Championships , but had to forego participation due to pain in his left ankle.

At the beginning of her career she trained with the former Swiss top runner Cornelia Bürki . Under their wings, they celebrated their success in the 1500 Meters , as the final part in the Olympic Games in Sydney . Since she has started over the longer distances, Peter Wirz , another former Swiss middle-distance ace, has been her trainer.

In April 2018, after 2016 and 2017, she won the Half Marathon Merano Lagundo for the third time in 1: 19.51 h .

Sabine Fischer is 1.74 m tall and weighs 60 kg. The primary school teacher lives in Glarus , but starts for the LC-Rapperswil-Jona , where she grew up.
