Luis Reyes Ayala

Luis Reyes Ayala (* 1914 in Guadalajara ; † January 27, 2008 ibid) was a Mexican football player who was under contract with various clubs in his hometown of Guadalajara and was also part of the Jalisco national team, which played in the Primera Fuerza between 1940 and 1943 .

biography

His footballer career began in the youth teams of Atlético Latino , a club from Guadalajara's Barranquitas district. In 1938/39 he moved to the soccer team of the Sindicato Único de Trabajadores de Autotransportes de Jalisco (SUTAJ) and played for the Selección Jalisco between 1940 and 1943 . When this was dissolved after the introduction of professional football, he switched to CD Guadalajara , for which he played in the newly introduced Primera División until 1948 . In the five seasons with Guadalajara in the professional league, he scored 39 goals.

Trivia

His three sons Salvador, Alfredo and Luis were also professional football players. Luis played for Atlas , León and Zacatepec , while Alfredo was also under contract with CD Guadalajara and later moved to Deportivo Toluca FC . The outstanding player among the three brothers was Salvador Reyes , who with his 122 goals was an immensely important part of the CD Guadalajara team that won seven championship titles between 1957 and 1965 and went down in Mexican football history under the name Campeonísimo .
