Selección Jalisco refers to the national team of the Mexican state of Jalisco , which was established in 1926 and which has participated in the Primera Fuerza , the amateur football championship in Mexico , for the last three seasons from 1940/41 to 1942/43 . It was made up of the best players from the teams of the Jalisco State League and was usually a matter of the four top clubs in Guadalajara, Atlas , Chivas , Nacional and Oro .

The introduction of the professional league from the 1943/44 season de facto ended its raison d'être, as Atlas and Chivas (from the beginning) and Oro (from the second year) were included as representatives of the state of Jalisco in the newly formed top division of Mexico. The selection team was consequently disbanded in 1943. But it was occasionally revived, for example in 1968 to participate in the IV. Hexagonal Internacional in Mexico City.

Before the national professional league was introduced, the clubs from Guadalajara were repeatedly disadvantaged in favor of the wealthy and influential clubs from the capital, because they knew how to lure the best players from Jalisco to Mexico City with lucrative offers . Because while football in Jalisco was actually an amateur sport, the major capital city clubs disregarded their amateur status and paid money or granted other perks. The most stubborn and successful recruiter was General Aguirre, who strengthened the Marte military club he founded with several top performers from the Selección Jalisco - and thus, of course, weakened the Selección and the Guadalajara clubs accordingly.
