Antonina Wladimirowna Kriwoschapka ( Russian Антонина Владимировна Кривошапка , born July 21, 1987 in Rostov-on-Don ) is a former Russian athlete who was two-time indoor European champion in 2009.

Career

Kriwoschapka was second behind the American Natasha Hastings in 2003 in 53.54 s at the World Youth Championships in the 400-meter run . In 2004 she was eliminated from the junior world championships in the preliminary stages. In the following years she was not active internationally, in 2008 she improved her personal best to 51.24 s.

In February 2009 she set her indoor best time of 50.55 s, which also meant the indoor world best time of the year. At the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Turin, she won the 400-meter run in 51.18 s. The next day, she also led the Russian 4 x 400 meter relay to victory as the final runner . In July 2009 Kriwoschapka increased her outdoor best at the Russian Championships in Cheboksary to 49.29 s. At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin , she ran 49.71 seconds in the final, winning the bronze medal behind the American Sanya Richards and the Jamaican Shericka Williams . These three runners also faced each other in the final round of the season finals at the World Championships, here too Richards crossed the finish line before Williams, the Russian season won bronze.
