Vera Ivanovna Popkova
Vera Ivanovna Popkova ( Russian Вера Ивановна Попкова , English transcription Vera Popkova ; born April 2, 1943 in Chelyabinsk ; † September 29, 2011 in Lemberg ) was a Soviet sprinter .
Career
At the European Athletics Championships in Budapest in 1966 , she won bronze over 200 meters and in the 4 x 100 meter relay . She was fifth over 100 m .
In 1968 she reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Mexico City over 200 m. In the 4 x 100 meter relay, she won the bronze medal with the Soviet team.
In 1971 she won the European Athletics Indoor Championships over 400 m . In the same year she won bronze in the 4 x 400 meter relay of the European Championships in Helsinki with the Soviet team.
She was Soviet champion twice over 100 m (1966, 1967) and 200 m (1965, 1966) and once over 400 m (1970). In the hall she won the national title in 1966 over 300 m and 1971 over 200 m and 400 m.
