Jenny Brenda Meadows (born April 17, 1981 in Wigan , Greater Manchester ) is a former British middle -distance runner who has specialized in the 800-meter distance . Because of her sprinting skills , she is also used in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

Athletic career

At the Athletics Junior World Championships in Santiago in 2000 , she won gold with the British 4 x 400 meter relay. In 2002 she was used at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in the run-up to the English relay and thus contributed to their winning of the silver medal.

In the 2007 indoor season she stayed under two minutes for the first time and came in fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham . At the World Athletics Championships in Osaka , she reached the semi-finals. In 2008 she was fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia and was eliminated from the semifinals of the Olympic Games in Beijing . In 2009, a fourth place at the European Indoor Championships in Turin was followed by winning the bronze medal at the World Championships in Berlin .

The following year she won silver at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and bronze at the European Championships in Barcelona .

At the European Indoor Championships 2011 in Paris, she won silver with the British 4 x 400 meter relay. Over 800 m she advanced from silver to gold due to the subsequent disqualification of Yevgenia Sinurova , who was convicted of doping. At the World Cup in Daegu , she failed in the semi-finals.

In 2012 she had to sit out due to an injury to the Achilles tendon . At the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg in 2013 , she returned with a fourth place, but a stress fracture in the thigh bone forced her to take another break.

After the European Championships in Amsterdam in 2016, she announced the end of her career.
