Athletic career

Starting for her home country Cuba, Grenot was fifth at the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Bydgoszcz and fourth over 400 meters at the 2003 Pan-American Games in Santo Domingo. At the Central American and Caribbean Games in Nassau in 2005, she won bronze medals in the 400-meter run and in the 4-by-400-meter relay . In the same year she started at the World Championships in Helsinki , but was eliminated over 400 meters in the preliminary run.

After Grenot moved to Italy in 2006 and married an Italian, she took on Italian citizenship in early 2008 . Just three months later, she improved the Italian record in the 400-meter run to 51.05 seconds. At the Olympic Games in Beijing she managed a further increase to 50.83 seconds. As the tenth fastest runner in the semi-finals, she still missed the finals.

In 2009 Grenot, a member of the Guardia di Finanza sports promotion group, won the gold medal at the World Military Championships in Sofia. In the same year she won the Mediterranean Games in Pescara , where she increased her own national record to 50.30 seconds. At the World Championships in Berlin , she reached the semi-finals.

At the European Championships in Barcelona in 2010 , Grenot finished fourth both over 400 meters and in the 4 x 400 meter relay. Also at the European Championships in Helsinki in 2012 , where she was sixth in the 400-meter run, the relay was eliminated in the preliminary run. At the Olympic Games in London she reached the semifinals, while she did not get beyond the heats again with the relay.

In 2013, Grenot competed at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin in the 200-meter run and secured the silver medal. Despite the eighth fastest time in the semifinals , she was unable to qualify for the finals at the World Championships in Moscow over twice the distance .

At the IAAF World Relays 2014 in Nassau, Grenot led the Italian 4 x 400 meter relay as the final runner to sixth place. In the same year, she celebrated her most important success to date by winning the 400 meter title at the European Championships in Zurich . With the season she ran there in seventh place. At the Continental Cup in Marrakech , she finished the season with a third place over 400 meters.

In 2015 Grenot competed again in the relay at the IAAF World Relays in Nassau , but this time the Italian team was eliminated due to a substitution error. In the so-called Super League of the European Team Championship in Cheboksary , she took third place over 400 meters and fourth place with the relay. At the World Championships in Beijing , she reached the semi-finals in the 400-meter run.

At the European Championships in Amsterdam in 2016 , she successfully defended her title and won bronze with the Italian relay. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she finished eighth in the 400-meter run.
