Vanya Stambolova
Wanja Stambolova ( Bulgarian Ваня Стамболова , depending on the transcription also Vania , Vanja or Vanya Stambolova ; born November 28, 1983 in Varna ) is a Bulgarian sprinter and hurdler .
At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , she was eliminated from over 400 meter hurdles in the preliminary run. The following year she won silver in the 400-meter run at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow and gold at the European Championships in Gothenburg .
In January 2007, she was tested positive for testosterone in an unannounced training control and banned for two years for this violation of the doping regulations .
At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, she reached the semi-finals over 400 meter hurdles. In 2010 she won over 400 meters bronze at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and over 400 meters hurdles silver at the European Championships in Barcelona .
