Swetlana Wassiljewna Kljuka ( Russian Светлана Васильевна Клюка ; born December 27, 1978 in Belogorsk ) is a Russian middle-distance runner .

Life

In 2003 she reached the semi-finals over 800 meters at the World Championships . She won gold at the 2005 Summer Universiade in Izmir . A year later at the European Championships in 2006 , she won silver. In 2008 she set her personal best with 1: 56.64 minutes. Shortly afterwards, she narrowly missed the medal ranks at the Summer Olympics and ended up fourth behind Pamela Jelimo , Janeth Jepkosgei and Hasna Benhassi . A year later she started at the World Championships in Berlin . There she was eliminated as fifth in the semifinals over 800 meters. Also at the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona she could not prevail and finished eighth.

In July 2012, Svetlana Kljuka was banned from the Russian Athletics Federation for two years retrospectively from February onwards because of abnormal blood values ​​that suggest doping . All results from August 2009, including eighth place at the 2010 European Championships, have been deleted. The IAAF banned them until February 9, 2014.
