Vera Santos
Vera Santos (born December 3, 1981 in Santarém ) is a Portuguese athlete who reached fifth place in the 2009 World Championships in 20 km walking .
Vera Santos took second place in the U23 European Championships in 2003 behind the Greek Athanasia Tsoumeleka and ahead of the German Sabine Zimmer . At the 2003 World Championships , Santos reached 15th place, and she achieved the same placement two years later at the 2005 World Championships . At the Universiade 2005 Santos finished second behind the Chinese Jiang Qiuyan. After Vera Santos had finished 17th at the 2002 European Championships , she reached eighth place four years later at the 2006 European Championships . With an eleventh place at the 2007 World Championships and a ninth place at the 2008 Olympic Games , Santos achieved further honorable performances. She achieved her best placement so far at the 2009 World Championships with fifth place.
Her personal best over 20 kilometers is 1:28:14 hours, set at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. At a height of 1.64 meters, her competition weight is 57 kilograms.
