Jemma Simpson
Jemma Louise Simpson (born February 10, 1984 in Plymouth ) is a British athlete who competes in the 800 meters.
Life
After attending Millfield School in Street ( Somerset ) Simpson earned her degree in English and media studies at St. Mary's University College in Twickham .
Simpson first appeared in sport in 2001 at the World Youth Championships in Debrecen , which she finished eighth over the 800 meters. In the following year she won the gold medal over this route at the Commonwealth Youth Games , where she competed for England .
Simpson achieved her first success in the adult division in 2005 when she competed in the European Cup for the injured Kelly Holmes and won the silver medal. After several injuries, she made her comeback at the British Championships in 2007 and won the title. She was then nominated for the 2007 World Championships in Osaka . There she was eliminated in the semi-finals over 800 meters. In 2008 she took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing in part. In 2009 and 2010 she won the British Championship again. At the European Championships in Barcelona she was fifth, two years later in Helsinki seventh.
