Simona La Mantia (born April 14, 1983 in Palermo ) is an Italian triple jumper . She was European indoor champion in 2011.

At the U23 European Championships in 2003 in Bydgoszcz she was second with 14.31 m and six centimeters behind the Russian Viktorija Gurowa . Shortly thereafter, she retired from qualification at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis. At the World Indoor Championships in Budapest in 2004 , she jumped her personal indoor best of 14.45 m in qualification and finished eleventh in the preliminary fight. At the Olympic Games in Athens she was eliminated again in qualification.

In 2005 she was eighth at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Madrid and won the U23 European Championships in Erfurt with 14.43 m ahead of Svetlana Bolshakova , who was then starting for Russia .

A few years followed, marked by injuries for La Mantia. In 2010 she jumped 14 meters for the first time since 2006. At the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona , she jumped 14.56 m and thus won the silver medal behind the Ukrainian Olha Saladucha , third was Bolshakova, who is now starting for Belgium.

At the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2011 in Paris, she celebrated her first international title with a personal best of 14.60 m. In 2012 she finished fourth at the European Championships , but at the Olympic Games in London she did not get beyond qualification. In March 2013 she won the bronze medal with a width of 14.26 m at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden .

So far she has been national champion outdoors five times (2004–2006, 2010, 2011) and three times indoors (2004, 2006, 2011).

Simona La Mantia is 1.76 m tall and weighs 64 kg. She started her career at CUS Palermo, but is now starting for the Fiamme Gialle association.
