Carlota Castrejana

Carlota Castrejana ( María Carlota Castrejana Fernández ; born April 25, 1973 in Logroño ) is a former Spanish basketball player and athlete who had her greatest successes in the triple jump .

In 1992 she was part of the Spanish basketball team, which came fifth at the Barcelona Olympics .

After switching to athletics, she was initially a high jumper and was Spanish champion in 1995 and 1997 indoors and in 1996 outdoors. After switching to the triple jump, she won the national title nine times in a row outdoors and eight times in a row indoors.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, she was eliminated from the qualification. In 2001 she won bronze at the Mediterranean Games , and in 2002 she was eighth in the triple jump and tenth in the long jump at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Vienna and eleventh at the European Championships in Munich .

A sixth place at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 2003 in Birmingham was followed by the qualification at the World Athletics Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis and at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. In 2005 she won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid . She was eleventh each at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki and at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg.

In 2007 she won gold at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham . At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, she did not get beyond the preliminary round.

Carlota Castrejana is 1.88 m tall and weighs 70 kg. She was trained by Juan Carlos Alvarez.
