Yuliya Zaripova ( Russian Юлия Михайловна Зарипова ., English transcription Yuliya Zaripova , born Иванова - Ivanova - Ivanova , in her first marriage Заруднева - Sarudnewa - Zarudneva * 26. April 1986 in Swetly Yar , Volgograd Oblast ) is a former Russian obstacle and long-distance runner .

Career

The daughter of a track and field trainer initially specialized in the 800-meter distance and finished eighth in the junior women’s race at the 2005 European Cross Country Championships . After the birth of a daughter and the death of her coach Gennady Naumov, she initially interrupted her sporting career. Under her new coach Mikhail Kuznetsov, she switched to the obstacle course.

In 2008 she became Russian U23 champion and won bronze in the U23 category at the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels . In the indoor season 2009 she was national champion over 3000 meters and seventh at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Turin . As a Russian obstacle course champion, she went to the World Championships in Berlin and won the silver medal behind Marta Domínguez in 9: 08.39 minutes. Because Domínguez was later disqualified, she was awarded the gold medal.

A year later she won the gold medal at the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona with a time of 9: 17.57 minutes ahead of Domínguez and won the Athletics Continental Cup in Split . In 2011 she was again Russian champion and secured the title at the World Championships in Daegu with a time of 9: 07.03 min.

Julija Saripowa lives in Volgograd and starts for the Dynamo association . In 2010 she married Ildar Saripov.

Doping ban 2015

In January 2015, Saripova was suspended for two years and six months with retroactive effect from July 25, 2013 for doping . She had to return the gold medal in the 3000 meter obstacle course at the 2012 Olympic Games in London . In addition, their results between June 20, 2011 and August 20, 2011 and July 3, 2012 and September 3, 2012 were deleted. So Saripova would have kept her 2011 world title. The World Athletics Federation IAAF appealed against this decision to the International Court of Justice for Sports (CAS) and won in 2016. At the end of January 2018, she was disqualified for the period from August 6, 2012 to July 25, 2013 and banned from July 25, 2013 to January 24, 2016 and from October 4, 2016 to April 3, 2018.
