The Tryńcza light railway was a military light railway near Tryńcza in Poland , which was laid and operated by the Austro-Hungarian land forces during the First World War .

purpose

In May 1915, in preparation for the Battle of Gorlice-Tarnów , the railway was used mainly for transporting ammunition, transporting supplies, including field kitchens and drinking water barrels, as well as transporting officers.

business

The freight wagons were pulled by horses, for which purpose an unpeeled tree trunk was placed across the direction of travel on each bogie freight wagon. As a result of the camouflage , to which great importance was attached during operation, the goods traffic remained mostly unnoticed by the enemy, which led to tactical advantages . Horse-drawn open passenger cars and rail bicycles were available for passenger transport .
