The women's javelin throw at the European Athletics Championships 2012 was held on June 27 and 29, 2012 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .
In this competition, the German javelin throwers won two medals, silver and bronze. Wira Rebryk from Ukraine became the European champion . Her second place of 2010 repeated the Olympic silver medalist from 2008 , two-time World silver medalist ( 2005 / 2007 ) and World Championship -Third of 2011 Christina Obergföll . Third place went to defending champion Linda Stahl .

22 participants competed in two groups for the qualification round. The qualification distance for direct entry into the final was 60.00 m. Two athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the eight athletes placed next to twelve throwers (highlighted in light green). So finally 56.67 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.
