The shot put women at the 2012 European Athletics Championships was on 28 and 29 June 2012 at the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki held.

European champion was the German Olympic silver medalist from 2004 four times Vice World Champion ( 1999 / 2001 / 2007 / 2009 ) and World Championship -Third of 2005 Nadine Kleinert . She won ahead of the Russian Irina Tarasova . Bronze went to the Italian Chiara Rosa .

Eighteen participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 17.50 m. Six athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the six next-placed athletes to twelve shot putters (highlighted in light green). So finally 16.70 m had to be achieved for the final.
