Úrsula Ruiz Pérez (born August 11, 1983 in Lorca ) is a Spanish shot putter .

Athletic career

In 2002, Úrsula Ruiz finished tenth at the Junior World Championships in Kingston in 2002 as well as at the U23 European Championships the following year in Bydgoszcz . In 2005 she came in twelfth place at the U23 European Championships . In 2009 she took part in the Universiade in Belgrade and came in sixth there. In 2010 Ruiz won the bronze medal at the Ibero-American Championships and also qualified for the European Championships in Barcelona , where she was eliminated in the qualification. In 2011 she again took part in the World Student Games in Shenzhen , China , and came in sixth again. In 2012 Ruiz qualified for both the indoor world championships and the open-air European championships in Helsinki , but dropped out on both occasions. Another major success was the participation in the Olympic Games in London . She set a new personal best in qualifying , but was still unable to qualify for the final.

In 2013 Ruiz was eighth at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg and later moved up to seventh place because of the subsequent disqualification of Yevgenia Kolodko . At the World Championships in Moscow , she was eliminated in qualification. In 2014 Ruiz took part in the World Indoor Championships and the European Championships in Zurich and was eliminated again both times in the qualification. At the 2015 European Indoor Championships in Prague , Ruiz again took eighth place in the final. Furthermore, she was eliminated in qualifying for the 2015 World Championships in Beijing . She finished tenth at the 2016 European Championships in Amsterdam , but was unable to qualify again for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2017 Ruiz qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade and was eliminated there with 16.15 m in the qualification.
