Austra Skujytė

Austra Skujytė (born August 12, 1979 in Biržai ) is a former Lithuanian heptathlete .

Athletic career

In 2000 she was twelfth at the Olympic Games in Sydney .

At the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton Skujytė was sixth with 6112 points and fourth at the 2002 European Championships in Munich with 6275 points.

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens she was able to win the silver medal behind Carolina Klüft (SWE) with a personal best of 6435 points . This was followed by fourth place at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki with 6360 points and sixth place at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka.

In 2004 Skujytė won bronze at the 2004 World Indoor Championships in Budapest. At the European Indoor Championships 2007 in Birmingham , she was fourth with her personal best of 4740 points and fifth at the 2008 World Indoor Championships in Valencia.

In the decathlon , which has not yet been included in major international events , Skujytė set a world record on April 15, 2005 in Columbia (Missouri) with 8358 points.

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012, she achieved the third-best result after the doping disqualification of two athletes lying in front of her. The IOC has not yet made the decision about the subsequent award of the bronze medal to Austra Skujytė. During this competition, the Lithuanian also impressed with her best shot put in a heptathlon of 17.31 meters.

Skujytė ended her sporting career in autumn 2017.

With a height of 1.88 m, her competition weight was 76 kg.
