Markus Prechtl

Markus Prechtl (* 1976 in Leverkusen ) is a German chemistry didactic and university professor .

Career

As a student, Prechtl was enthusiastic about a chemistry competition and decided to study chemistry . He completed his studies in chemistry and biology at the University of Cologne (1996–2001) with the first state examination for teaching. From 2002 to 2006 he was a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Chemistry and its Didactics at the University of Cologne and did his doctorate with Christiane S. Reiners.

From 2006 to 2008 he was a trainee teacher at the Anne Frank Realschule in Oberhausen and was trained in the Oberhausen study seminar. From 2008 he worked as a teacher for biology and chemistry at the secondary school in Frechen .

This was followed by various activities as a lecturer in higher education at the University of Siegen , as a visiting professor for gender and diversity at the Leibniz University of Hanover and as a KIVA visiting professor (didactics / gender / MINT ) at the TU Darmstadt .

In 2015 he was appointed professor (W3) for chemistry and didactics of chemistry at the Pedagogical University of Weingarten , in 2017 he was appointed professor (W3) for didactics of chemistry in the chemistry department of TU Darmstadt.

Publications

Prechtl is the author of books and numerous publications in specialist journals such as B. Science in Class - Chemistry , Chemistry in Our Time , World Journal of Chemical Education, etc.
